いつものような、実際の会社での皆さんの奮闘ぶりが面白い（←と言っては失礼だけどｗ）ので、ちょっと残念かなー。

でも、日本語の感覚だと、ついつい使ってしまいがちだけど、ネイティブからすると、ちょっとニュアンス違うョっていう表現が勉強になった。

”大変ですが頑張ります！”と伝えたくて…　"It's very hard."

でもネイティブスピーカーには　「私たちの限界を越えて困っている…」と聞こえます。

それなら…
"It's an exciting challenge for us."
"We love a challenge."

challengeのような単語を使う方が前向きでやる気が伝わります。

challengeのほうが、確かに前向き！

子供のとき、新築の家の棟上げ式で餅やお菓子、硬貨がばらかまれるのが楽しかった思い出ある。

大学以降、そんな光景には遭遇してないけど、都市部ではやらないのかな。

なぜ餅を「rice cake」というか。

cakeは、もともと平たいパンのようなものを指していて、
それがのちに、甘いお菓子を意味するように。

こうした成り立ちがあるので、英語の「cake」は
日本語の「ケーキ」よりも、広範囲に使える。

なので、「fish cake（魚肉を丸めた食品）」のように
食品の固まりをcakeという。

食品以外の固形物にも「cake of soap」のようにも使える。

この人、ドラムもやってたみたいだし、引き出し多い人だなー。

「タンポポ」で、のどにつまった餅を掃除機で吸い取るシーン覚えてる。
